In order to follow the regional development, to be oriented to China-ASEAN strategic cooperation, to push ahead with the Double First-class construction and to improve the internationalization of university management, Guangxi University (GXU) made the merger of China-ASEAN Research Institute, ASEAN School, Sino-Canadian International College, International Education College, and Institute of Complexity Science & Big Data Technology of GXU to form the International College of GXU in June 2018. Prof. Fan Zuojun, Vice President of Guangxi University, serves as Dean of the International College of Guangxi University. Prof. Qin Chengqiang serves as Secretary of CPC General Branch of the International College of Guangxi University. Prof. Wang Yuzhu, a researcher of the National Institute of International Strategy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (NIIS CASS), serves as Executive Dean of the International College of Guangxi University.

International College of Guangxi University has 109 staff members including 98 Chinese staff, 11 foreign staff, and 544 students consist of 15 Ph.D candidates, 35 graduate students and 496 undergraduate students in the college. In 2018, the College is responsible for the administration of 2,251 international students at Guangxi University.  In the education, the college has founded Department of Southeast Asian Languages, Department of International Cooperative Teaching and Research and Department of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.

Laos, Cambodian, and Burmese majors comprise the Department of Southeast Asian Languages, where 8 types of courses are involved, including Politics, Economy, Management, Ethnic Groups, Society, Law, Journalism and Literature for innovating the training system of compound talents for Country Research. Professional classrooms are provided and subordinated to Department of International Cooperative Teaching and Research, taking on teaching tasks of working in partnership with foreign universities in all respects. Department of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language is responsible for teaching international students (from bachelors to Ph.D ) Chinese language, and arranging relative cultural courses for them.

As a window to accelerate the international process of Guangxi University, International College will reach the goal of building an international platform open to ASEAN with regional characteristics. Pursuing the path of “Double First-Class” university construction, and with the aim to be on the list of First-Class universities in the world as well as First-Class disciplines, college faculty will endeavor to take advantage of the platform, so as to achieve the goal of developing a First-Class college.
